Typically AIA Contract Documents are revised on a 10 year cycle. However, given the pace at which use of digital data in the construction industry is changing, a ten year review cycle for the digital practice documents would have been too long, to maintain a meaningful tool for industry participants. Accordingly, in 2011 the AIA undertook to again evaluate continued development and adoption of digital practice and BIM.
