Andrea Hardy, AIA, Reflects on Experience at AIA Young Architects Forum Annual Meeting

At the AIA national level, Young Architects are those who became\nlicensed architects within the past 10 years and are within the AIA Research\nand Practice Group. And within AIA Arizona, those same architects are AIA10\nmembers. The YAF Annual Meeting coincided with a gathering of the AIA National Associate\nCommittee, including Ana Astiazaran, Assoc. AIA, the Associate Representative\nfor AIA Arizona. Andrea shared some insights from her experience at the YAF\nAnnual Meeting:"]]],[10,0],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"Once a year, Young Architect Representatives (YARs) from\neach state gather in an annual meeting to discuss topics impacting our industry\nand more importantly, challenges, hurdles, and opportunities specific to the\nYAF membership. "]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"What an exciting yet intimidating opportunity it was! I had\nthe opportunity to meet the YAR for each state. We broke into groups to have\ndiscussions around the challenges, hurdles, and opportunities we have as YAF\nmembers. My table determined that our responses were role definitions,\nnetworking, and making change respectively. All YARs were placed into a focus\ngroup: Communications, Community, Advocacy, Knowledge, and Strategic Vision.\nDue to my experience with publications, I was placed in the Communications\ngroup, which spearheads the YAF publication CONNECTION. "]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"The energy, passion, dedication to the profession, etc was\nalmost overwhelming. What an amazing group of individuals! I\u2019m so thankful for\nthe opportunity to participate in this group. My hope moving forward is that we\nleverage this fantastic network of people. YARs across the country have\nassembled juries, programming, and mentorship programs, for example.
