A massive increase in average caseloads, evolving staffing needs, and projected population growth were factors in planning and designing Ada County\u2019s new facility. This project represents a significant investment by Ada County to provide its citizens with state-of-the-art medicolegal death investigation. The new ACCO building is 2-story and 39,600 sf square feet, with a first level of 29,650 sf and a second level of 9,950 sf located at the intersection of Franklin Road and Touchmark Way."]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,""]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"The ACCO is organized in an efficient north-south oriented bar with administrative, autopsy, processing, and storage spaces arranged within the building footprint to facilitate efficient workflow of the Coroner\u2019s staff. The placement of active program along the south and east primary street frontages was prioritized to give the building a dynamic presence within the neighborhood. To accommodate future growth in caseload, the building is situated to allow for expansion of the footprint off the back of the building towards the west. The public entry plaza divides the glazed office wing to the south from the opaque autopsy areas to the north."]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,""]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"Durable and low maintenance materials of metal panel and precast concrete provide the ACCO with a cost-conscious, long-lived building envelope. Clear low-energy glazing with reflectivity to capture the changing color of the sky is used where appropriate; more at the office to promote views and daylighting and less at the autopsy complex and sallyport to preserve privacy.
