AIA NEPA at SP[ARCH]

The event was held in the Radisson in downtown Scranton. Members of the\nAIA NEPA Board discussed the Northeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the AIA\nScholarship Fund and promoted the AIA to 150+ architectural students in\nattendance from schools reaching from Virginia to Canada."]]],[10,0],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"The conference highlighted Scranton\u2019s architectural history which was the birthplace and home to a young Jane Jacobs, a predominant architectural advocate for higher density in cities, short blocks, local economies, and mixed uses. During the conference students heard keynote addresses from Erin Pellegrino and Peter Bohlin in addition to a panel discussion on post-industrial mid-sized cities featuring Martina Bacarella, Stephen Garrison, Richard Leonori, Mary Ann Moran-Savakinus, and Gretchen Pineo. The conference attendees also had unique networking opportunities through local architectural firm tours, a Mocktail Hour, and Beaux Arts Ball. In addition, attendees had the opportunity to enjoy, a Jane Jacobs walking tour, a tour of the under-construction Lace Village, a K-12 workshop with Nativity Miguel Students, tours of downtown Scranton hosted by HARB and the Lackawanna Historical Society, and visits to the Steamtown National Historic Site, the Anthracite Heritage Museum, and the Lackawanna Coal Mine tour."]]]]}
