High School Design Competition Hosts Rendering Day

"]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"Back\nin person for the first time since 2020, the event was well appreciated by student\nattendees and our industry representatives \u0026 judges. Thirty students from 6\nof the 12 participating schools had the chance to learn from several industry representatives.\n"]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"BGSU Professor, Scot\nMacPherson, AIA, spoke about graphic layouts of the student boards: the\nimportance of telling your buildings story to the judges without being there in\nperson. Students then split into groups to listen to short presentations and have\nquestions answered by our award sponsors. GEM Energy spoke about building\nlayout related to the sun path and other energy conservation concepts they are\nlooking for when judging for the Sustainable Architecture Award. Edge provided literature\nwith plenty of landscaping, playground products, and site layout items for the\nstudents to consider in their site design for the community center. Edge and\nUnilock representatives will be looking for these design features when they judge\nthe Landscape Architecture Award. Gasser Bush Associates expressed the\nimportance of lighting design for both interior and exterior features along\nwith some examples of good lighting presentations. Company representatives will\nbe focusing on the students\u2019 design through lighting focus for the Lighting Design\nAward. Members of the Toledo Design Collective spoke about the value of\nblending with the surrounding area and street appearance. This group will be\nlooking at these and other characteristics while judging the Urban Design\nAward. Many\nscholarships and prizes will be presented to the contestants at the Awards Ceremony\non Tuesday, April 25 at Handmade Toledo.
