AIA, says backlogs are moving in the wrong direction. Backlogs nationally have decreased a half a month on average over the last year. Though Baker says large amounts of work in-house for both architects and construction companies should help provide a bridge to the next design expansion, he warns that in shaky economies, backlogs may not be as reliable as they seem.
