Each year AIA EKC organizes a creative, design-build competition that benefits God\u0027s Pantry Food Bank through donations of canned goods. Teams from the design and construction firms from Lexington use their skills to build sculptures out of cans of food. The nutritious, shelf-stable food is donated for distribution to those in need after the event. The committee is in charge of coordinating with Kroger and the Food Bank, as well as venue selection for the build and securing sponsors. The audience votes on the teams and partakes in the silent auction to collect proceeds to benefit AIA and a charitable partner. The committee is in charge of securing silent auction donations, selecting venue, and developing the design challenge. This is a great opportunity to learn and see first hand why residential architecture is so important to our community and to support fellow practitioners. The committee is in charge of securing and scheduling homes for the tour, coordinating with home owners\/architects, being present at the event and ensuring attendees are accounted for CE credit.
