This rear deck and porch extend along the north side of the addition for\nthe bluff view, entered directly from the bedrooms and from the main part of\nthe house. The addition is joined to the original house by a fully glazed\nbridge with its roof lowered for both articulation of the addition and to allow\ncross ventilation for the new porch. The broad overhangs and exterior shading\non the front walls were designed to control the south sun. A new main porch\nopen to the west and north was added off living room and kitchen, overlooking\nthe bluff and including a fireplace and outdoor kitchen cabinets of site- cast\nconcrete. The new porch and addition roofs transformed the original gables to\nmono-slopes and \u201cbutterfly\u201d roofs. Two new open mono-sloped roofs provide a porte\ncochere and a detached secondary carport that together frame the auto entrance.\nThe original stained wood siding, local sandstone veneer and standing seam\nmetal roof panels were used on the addition, along with generous glass areas\nfacing into the woods."]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"Former bedrooms became a second\naccessible and a principal suite, and an office\/utility room \u0026 powder room\noff the new foyer.
