The yearly program is directed by AIA Toledo\nand administered to students through teachers and local design professionals\nserving as advisors."]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"As part of the competition, students are required to submit drawings\nincluding overall floor plans, enlarged floor plans, site plan \/ roof plan,\nbuilding elevations, building sections, three-dimensional representations, and\na detailed project description to all be presented for judging. \u201cAs a teacher,\nthis is the best real life architecture problem the students will encounter\nwhile in high school,\u201d said Todd Heslet, instructor at Anthony Wayne High\nSchool \u201cSo each year when the program is presented, I always look forward to\nseeing the student designs evolve from concept to final ideas.\u201d"]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"This year\u2019s project challenges students to design a community\ncenter for the "],[0,[0],1,"East Toledo Family Center (ETFC)"],[0,[],0,", located within Navarre Park in\nEast Toledo. The ETFC is the anchor\norganization in the neighborhood, providing services that help community\nmembers from newborn ages to seniors. \nThey partner and collaborate with residents and outside organizations,\nencapsulating the ETFC mission, \u201cStrengthening and serving the community one\nlife at a time.\u201d The East Toledo Family\nCenter currently operates two separate buildings located on opposite ends of\nNavarre Park, but has expressed interest in combining their facilities to\ncreate a condensed campus. Students are\ntasked with developing a design solution that incorporates a variety of interior\nand exterior spaces, including the following: daycare rooms, activity rooms,\noutdoor classrooms, plantings, a playground, an outdoor athletic court, and\nmore.
