This policy is designed\nto prevent sexual and other types of\nharassment within AIA Mid-Michigan, and\nto provide for corrective action as appropriate.\n"]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"\n"],[0,[0],1,"Who Is Covered by the Policy"],[0,[],0,"\n"]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"\n"],[0,[1],1," "],[0,[],0,"\n\nThis policy applies\nto the following people,\nreferred to as Covered Individuals:\n"]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"\n \n\n\u2022 members of the AIA Mid-Michigan Executive Committee (or other governing body).\n"]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"\n\u2022 \nall individuals who\nact on AIA Mid-Michigan\u0027s behalf\nthrough election, appointment (including appointment to a committee), or Committee action, or under authority from its Bylaws or\nRules of the Committee.\n"]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"\n\u2022 \nall individual members of AIA Mid-Michigan engaged in activities\nrelating to the business of the AIA such as meetings and events, continuing education\nsessions, tours, and any other AIA\u00ad related activities.\n"]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"\n\u2022 \nall other individuals\nengaged in activities relating to the\nbusiness of AIA Mid-Michigan such as meetings and events,\ncontinuing education sessions, tours, and any other AIA Mid-Michigan\u00ad related\nactivities.\n"]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"\n \n\n"],[0,[0],1,"Prohibited Conduct"],[0,[],0,"\n"]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"\n"],[0,[1],1," "],[0,[],0,"\n\nThis policy prohibits discriminatory or harassing behavior (that is, unwelcome conduct) directed toward a\nperson because of his or her sex,\nrace, color, religion, national origin, age, marital status, personal\nappearance, sexual orientation or\nidentification, family responsibilities, physical\nor mental disability, political affiliation, or other status protected under\nthe laws of the jurisdiction(s) in which AIA Mid-Michigan is present or the relevant\nactivities take place.\n"]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"\nAccordingly, no Covered\nIndividual shall:\n"]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"\n \n\n\u2022 \nengage in or facilitate\nany discriminatory or harassing\nbehavior directed toward AIA officers,\ndirectors, members, staff, meeting attendees, exhibitors, advertisers,\nsponsors, suppliers, contractors, guests, or others in connection with\nactivities relating to the AIA.\n"]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"\n \n\n\u2022 \nengage in speech or\nconduct which is disparaging or derogatory of persons\nbased on any of the factors\nmentioned above, in connection with activities relating to the AIA.\n"]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"\n \n\n"],[0,[0],1,"Reporting a Violation"],[0,[],0,"\n\n"],[0,[1],1," "],[0,[],0,"\n\nViolations of this policy may be reported to the AIA Mid-Michigan Executive Committee. The Commitee will\nbe responsible for resolving any reported violation, and will determine an appropriate course of action.\nThis will ordinarily involve a prompt inquiry or investigation, which shall be\nconducted with utmost discretion and be kept confidential to the greatest\nextent possible. Such inquiry or investigation shall be conducted by the\nCommittee or by one or more of its members, by\nlegal counsel retained by AIA Mid\u00ad Michigan, or by such other person(s)\nas the Committee may designate.\n\n"]]],[1,"p",[]],[1,"h2",[[0,[0,2],2,"Executive Committee Action"]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"Promptly after the inquiry or investigation has been completed, the resulting findings will be reported to the Executive Committee. The Committee shall then conduct such\nproceedings and take such action as\nmay be appropriate and authorized\nunder applicable law and under the governing documents of the Institute and of AIA Mid-Michigan.
