The Collections Wing, a.k.a., the Vault, was designed by Smith Group and finished in 2011 to house the art academy\u2019s historically significant and ever-evolving collection. Both craft and industrialization are valued in the collection of famously designed chairs, tapestries, rugs, fabrics, paintings, sculpture, vases, architectural models, etc. This 20,000 SF addition was motivated by the need to provide proper temperature and humidity control for both the interior of the existing building as well as the new storage.
