There were 67 students from 9 schools in AIA Dayton\u2019s geographic area who signed up to participate in the annual competition. Forty-four students from 7 schools followed the competition through to the end and submitted projects on April 8. The projects were then on display at the West Branch Library until the April 30 Awards Program. The Wright Company Factory was the first in America built for the purpose of manufacturing airplanes. The National Aviation Heritage Area has worked to have the factory preserved and restored as a site of the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park, completing the story of the Wright brothers\u2019 invention, development, and commercialization of the airplane in Dayton. The site is currently in planning by the National Park Service and is being managed by the City of Dayton. The New West Branch of the Dayton Metro Library will be opening this winter.
