Statute of Repose for Improvements to Real Property

This\nstatute of repose limits the long tail of liability for those involved in the\ndesign and construction of building projects. The current Wisconsin statute of\nrepose was enacted in 1994 and bars legal action against architects,\nprofessional engineers, contractors, material suppliers and owners after ten\nyears from the date of substantial completion of a project. A previous six-year\nstatute of repose was ruled unconstitutional in 1989. AIA Wisconsin supports\nthe shorter repose period.
