She and her business\npartners assumed ownership of the firm from her mentor, Thomas Porter, in 2019.\nTheir effort to foster creativity and empowerment in all team members, both new\nand well-seasoned, has created continual growth. TPA has since expanded to 12\nemployees that she thoughtfully manages with positivity, humor, and a drive to\nserve our community through considerate design and engagement with all\nstakeholders."]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"Originally from Toledo, Julie completed her undergraduate\ndegree at Clemson in South Carolina, followed by her Master of Architecture\nfrom Washington University in St. Louis. \nAfter working in the housing studio at Trivers Associates for three\nyears, she and her husband moved back to Toledo in 2006. Throughout her career\nJulie has worked on everything from small occupancy permit projects to a luxury\nnine-story mixed-use commercial and condo building, with a full roof terrace\nand garden. She believes that the most\nsignificant aspect of a project is not the scale but creating long-term\nrelationships with clients and contractors. Julie is invested in the way people\nuse the built environment, not just the way it looks."]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"With her passion for historic preservation, Julie knows just\nhow important it is to maintain the character of our city and tell the story of\nour progress. She works with long-term\nclients as well as local and new developers to educate them on the historic tax\ncredit process and has participated in round table discussion for the\ndevelopment community. She also serves as the Special Interest Commission\nMember of the Old West End Historic District Commission to provide input\nregarding historic standards and the Secretary of the Interior\u2019s Standards for\nthe Treatment of Historic Properties."]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"As a dedicated community advocate and passionate promoter of\nthe architectural profession, she participates in several K-12 and higher\neducation career awareness events each year, including on-going job shadow\nprograms. Knowing the challenges of working as a woman in a STEAM field, Julie\nis dedicated to helping girls build confidence while providing exposure to\ndifferent careers and interests. Julie has served as a Girl Scout Troop Leader\nfor five years, a PTO Board Member, and TPS Library Volunteer at Grove\nPatterson Academy."]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"A self-proclaimed LEGO master builder, Julie loves creative\nproblem solving and the fact that no two days in architecture are alike.
