Overview
{"version":"0.3.0","atoms":[],"cards":[],"markups":[],"sections":[[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"Emergency Departments (ED) can be instantaneously overwhelmed, requiring\nresilient, adaptable, and flexible solutions in the built environment. Like\nmany healthcare organizations, UC Health, an academic medical organization\nlocated in Cincinnati, Ohio, experienced major space challenges during the\nCOVID-19 pandemic on-set and peak. This scenario, and others that ED\u2019s are\nfaced with, can be better supported by innovative uses of non-clinical\nenvironments on campus. "]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"In this presentation, we will demonstrate solutions applied to an adjacent\nspace to the renovated ED at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center that\nprovides added socially distanced seating for the entire campus, accommodates\nseparate entries to avoid cross-contaminating infectious and non-infectious\npresenters, activates additional patient care environments supporting the ED\nproper, and integrates security and safety measures for all in high-stress,\npotentially dangerous situations. "]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"UC Health has received congressional funding for this project through the\nCARES (Coronavirus, Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) Act, as it will benefit\nthe readiness of the only Level 1 Trauma Center in Cincinnati better to serve\nthe community with a future-proof, resilient facility. Upon completion, the\nspace activation methodologies will be folded into regional readiness training\nfor emergency scenarios and serve as an example of the future of Level 1 Trauma\nCenters.\u202f"]]]]}
