Citation for Design: Eagle Island Compound

The clients wanted the main focuses of the island to be the natural vegetation and views. Thus, we designed a traditional house with contemporary details and high quality finishes that integrated nicely into the island landscape. The clients desired wood tones and an elevated Adirondack aesthetic. We chose native pink granite for the foundation and columns and local limestone for terraces and paths. We worked with the clients to select a siding color that receded into the landscape. The red windows and select trim elements add a pop of intrigue to the built environment. We specified Basswood paneling with Douglas Fir ceilings and trim with white oak flooring for the interior of the house to provide a warm, inviting feel. The floor-to-ceiling windows showcase the majestic water views and also the seamless flow of the Douglas Fir ceilings from the interior to the exterior. Custom Adirondack furnishings were chosen to complete the client\u2019s desired program. The center finger of the system is a floating dock, allowing both boats inside of the boat port to have access to a floating dock for easier maneuverability.
