Designed through a highly collaborative process with teachers and staff, the school is composed of four learning community wings forming a large landscaped courtyard used as a wayfinding and teaching space. Each of the grade levels has a large Commons area for breakout instruction, featuring a highly configurable volume space filled with natural lighting and views to the natural site beyond. Flexible, innovative spaces are found throughout the facility, exemplified by the ability of the stage in the Cafeteria to be used for indoor as well as outdoor audiences by way of a large vertical Bi-fold glass door. The school encourages exposure to sustainable elements and learning integral to the student experience and expanded worldview. Creating a sense of place and a welcoming atmosphere through the use of color and positive reinforcement graphics was integral to making this facility work for younger students."]]]]}
