You still have this week to register and two weeks after that to submit a project or nominate an individual. As you spend time with your teams finalizing which projects to submit this year, take a moment to talk about something else- the recognition awards. Think about your younger staff, your leadership, your recently retired architects, those you are mentoring or being mentored from. Perhaps you have a client who is affecting change or elevating the awareness of good design in our region and would be a good fit for the Humanitarian Award. Let\u0027s celebrate them!"]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"I remember the first time someone nominated me for a professional award. I was a newish grad working towards licensure, and I didn\u0027t know I\u0027d been nominated until I was notified as a finalist. Along with feeling flattered, it was a big confidence boost for me, and I remember thinking, \u0022This mattered to me; I need to remember this and pay it forward.\u0022 (Or perhaps at that point, it would be me \u0027paying it backwards\u0027 instead?) I don\u2019t think I even won the award, but it didn\u2019t matter. Someone thought I could. "]]],[1,"p",[[0,[],0,"It is free and, despite the two page explanation, fairly simple to nominate someone for a recognition. You\u0027ll need a nominee summary, a story\/bio, a nomination letter, and letters of support. Some awards ask for a resume and portfolio of professional work experience. Yes, the resume\/portfolio aspect takes it out of the realm of \u0022fairly simple\u0022, but it\u0027s likely the person or firm you\u0027re thinking of has that information on hand. It doesn\u0027t hurt to ask.
