Attending the annual event in Las Vegas from our Board were Matthew Ormsby, AIA, Kevin Utz,\nAssoc AIA, Mike Ryan, AIA, and Barton Ross, AIA. They joined more than 15 other chapter attendees who\nwere part of a contingent of 100 AIA Maryland members. AIA component staff and\nvolunteers continue to select outstanding host cities, and this year\u0027s choice\nof Las Vegas was no exception. The Conference on Architecture must be\nexperienced at least once - but ideally multiple times - in your professional\ncareer. If there is something you want to see or learn, you have the\nopportunity. Besides educational sessions and the exhibitor floor, the conference feature candidate speeches for national offices, and the annual business\nmeeting. Our members find these to be great opportunities to \u2018pull back the\ncurtain\u2019 on the direction of and process by which the Institute operates,\nensuring that your voice is heard. The expo floor is a great place to see new\nand exciting building products, and this year\u0027s new products and vendor engagement were\nexemplary. Many schools of architecture also have alumni receptions in\nthe evenings during conference. A highlight for AIA Maryland members is the annual meetup networking party, attended this year by 25-30 members.
